Symmetric Health Solutions Wins SCAN Health Design Competition

BATON ROUGE -- Symmetric Health Solutions was awarded first place in the 2019 design competition held by the Supply Chain Advancement Network in Health (SCAN Health) in partnership with the Healthcare Transformation Group and sponsored by Intalere on Tuesday. The competition was dedicated to finding a “single source of truth” for product data.

SCAN Health held its third annual design competition to find solutions that can help create a single source of truth for product data in the healthcare supply chain. A panel of international judges from both academia and industry evaluated proposals. Currently, product data is fragmented; it exists in data silos across the healthcare industry. But recent regulation from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandated that all medical devices have unique identifiers, or UDI-DIs, and that they be added to a Global Unique Device Identifier Database (GUDID). These regulations create an opportunity to connect device data across the supply chain.

Drawing in part from this new database, Symmetric Health Solutions provides product data and analytics to health systems, enabling them to find savings opportunities and improve patient safety. By combining a growing list of over 70 data sources on medical products and suppliers with customer feedback and machine learning, Symmetric delivers the most complete intelligence needed for searching, reporting, and analyzing medical device and drug information. Symmetric is focused on mapping the healthcare supply chain to improve the patient experience across the continuum of care.
